The Silk Road: Connecting Cultures, Creating Trust June 26-30, July 3-7 National Mall, Washington, D.C.
"The 2002 Smithsonian Folklife Festival features The Silk Road, a living exhibition of the music, crafts, culinary and narrative traditions involved in the historical cultural interchange between the 'East' and the 'West'."
Issa Benyamin's work have been featured in two articles by Dr. Eden Naby of Harvard University.

This festival is held each and will host about 350 traditional artists from various nations such as US, Italy, Turkey, Syria, Armenia, Iran, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Pakistan, India, China, and more with over one million visitors expected!

The Arts Center is proud to present this exhibition of twenty-five calligraphic paintings by Issa Benyamin. Mr. Benyamin, the first Assyrian calligraphist of the modern age, has devoted more than 55 years of his life to creating outstanding designs, using the Assyrian alphabet, in ink and acrylics on genuine leather. Attend the Art Talk at the Arts Center on March 28th at 7pm. Issa Benyamin has kindly offered to give a calligraphy demonstration at the Arts Center on Sunday, April 29th, 1-3pm. We would like to thank Other Ports of downtown Normal for generously hosting the opening reception.
